Meet the People - Part 5
My name is Lily Hinton and currently 22 years old. When I started volunteering at Citizens Advice Bureau in 2014, I was a law student at the University of Birmingham. I had recently moved to Kidderminster with my family and did not know of many people due to being new to the area.
I decided to volunteer at Wyre Forest Citizens Advice Bureau in order to gain valuable experience for my legal career due to it being recommended by my University of Birmingham. It was also a chance to meet new people in Kidderminster and get to know people in the local area.
Since working at Citizens Advice Bureau, I have had experience with advising people on the Citizens Advice line on a variety of issues such as debt, housing and benefits. This has given me an opportunity to broaden my legal knowledge and gain experience in helping people in real life cases.
Not only have I gained excellent legal experience but I have also met people who I am now close friends with. We regularly meet up for drinks, meals and go out to Worcester for nights out. Through Wyre Forest CAB, I also met my best friend who coincidentally studied at the University of Birmingham too. In July, we went on holiday to Greece where we had a fantastic girls holiday. Therefore volunteering at Citizens Advice Bureau has given me legal experience but also very close friends.
